Blogging here at Madam Mayo since 2006, C.M. Mayo is an award-winning essayist, novelist, poet, and literary translator. Yes, she still uses a typewriter, but no, it not true that her first pet was a diplodocus. Her many works include Meteor (Gival Press Award for Poetry); Metaphysical Odyssey into the Mexican Revolution (Indie Excellence Award for History), and the novel based on the true story, The Last Prince of the Mexican Empire (a Library Journal Best Book). Mayo’s other awards include the Flannery O’Connor for Short Fiction; several Lowell Thomas Awards for Travel Writing, and fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, and the Bread Loaf and Sewanee Writers Conferences.

Professional affiliations: Biographers International, Center for Big Bend Studies, Texas Institute of Letters, and Women Writing the West. I am also a member of the Free Speech Union.
